Another stunning weekend in Newcastle.
Each year the Rugby League Super League gets together and plays all six fixtures for that weekend in one venue over two days.
2016 was a repeat of 2015 and Newcastle was, once again, the amazing host city. This is the third place I’v ebeen with this weekend.
Murrayfield felt isolated. Etihad (Manchester) was pretty good. Newcastle was Magic.
Twenty plus years ago i visited the Study Support Centre at St James’ Park. I asked the manager how I would find the stadium. The answer was simple “Get somewhere near the town centre and just look up”.
The ground is one of very few major stadia so close to the centre of the city.
This is Dunston Silver Band. They played in the city centre on Sunday morning. If you ever want to hear a silver band absolutely nail “Africa” by Toto, just find this lot!
Now THIS is something I could only ever have dreamed of as a child. This is the real deal.
The shirt, so unceremoniously modeled, is a special shirt produced by Widnes Rugby League club to help raise funds for the Bobby Robson cancer research charity.
